From Regulation to Innovation: LenderKit CEO Joins the Dialogue at CrowdCon & Fintics 2024
On September 26–27, 2024, Brussels once again became the focal point for Europe’s crowdfunding and fintech leaders, as the 13th edition of CrowdCon — held in conjunction with the 4th Fintics forum — gathered top voices from across the ecosystem. Co-hosted by EUROCROWD and Fintics, the event signaled a shift in tone from regulatory frustration to forward-looking innovation.
Among the participants was Konstantin Boyko, CEO of LenderKit, a white-label crowdfunding software provider. A regular attendee of CrowdCon since 2019, Konstantin shared his thoughts during and after the event, offering a perspective not just on where the industry is now, but where it’s finally heading.

A Crowdfunding Sector at the Crossroads
In his Day 1 remarks, Konstantin highlighted the unique energy of this year’s conference:
“It’s a very lively community here… a lot of conversations happening during the breaks,” he noted. “After exploring the topic of tokenization and securitization from all possible angles, the agenda comes to discussing ECSPR impact. Let’s see what it brings.”
The European Crowdfunding Service Providers Regulation (ECSPR), has been central in unifying the once fragmented European market. After years of delays and barriers, over 200 platforms now hold cross-border licenses, enabling them to operate throughout the EU under a single regulatory framework.
But as Konstantin observed, the real story this year wasn’t just about compliance. It was about what comes next.
From Licensing to Scaling: A Shift in Conversation
“This one has been different in a positive way,” Konstantin reflected at the close of the event.
Previous years focused heavily on the challenges of acquiring an EU-wide license, often blaming national regulators for slow and bureaucratic processes. But with the regulatory foundations now largely in place, the conversation in 2024 has evolved.
“People started talking about how to grow the market, how to solve liquidity with proper secondary markets, how to collaborate with other platforms, how to use tokenization in real-world cases, and about other challenges and solutions.”
For LenderKit, a company deeply embedded in the tech side of crowdfunding, this evolution is a welcome one. It signals a market that’s ready to build.
“As a technology provider, I’m really glad to see that the market players are waking up and are finally interested in the business besides getting their license,” he added.
An Ecosystem-Wide Perspective
Konstantin also wore another hat during the event — as a representative of CrowdSpace, an ecosystem builder that connects platforms, investors and tools in the crowdfunding space.
“As an ecosystem builder, I am also glad that the topic of collaboration and globalization is finally being discussed,” he said.
CrowdCon’s sessions reflected this broadening perspective. From exploring the role of blockchain in secondary markets and registries to examining crowdfunding as a tool for social good, the event underscored that the sector’s potential lies not just in regulation, but in its capacity to innovate, connect and scale.
Looking Ahead
As the European crowdfunding industry enters a more unified and competitive phase, the role of technology providers like LenderKit and ecosystem initiatives like CrowdSpace, will only grow in importance.
CrowdCon 2024 was a reminder that the hard work isn’t over, but it’s finally pointed in the right direction.
